FROM EDUCATION TO ATHLETICS…
Susan Lipnickey took a nontraditional path into collegiate athletics, beginning her career in education. She started teaching at Miami University (Ohio) as a Professor and then added the role of Faculty Athletics Representative. Since joining Xavier in 2014, Susan oversees compliance and student-athlete resources. She takes pride in helping student-athletes maximize both their academic and athletic opportunities. Susan endeavors to enhance the student-athlete experience through her leadership and ensuring every athlete is holistically supported so they can thrive during college and succeed beyond it.

One of the greatest challenges facing collegiate athletics today is the rapidly evolving landscape of NIL and revenue sharing. While these changes have opened the door for student-athletes to grow beyond just their sport, they have also introduced new complexities and influence of politics in athletics. Susan believes that stronger collaboration between academics and athletics is essential to better support and maximize opportunities for student-athletes.

A memorable event that shaped Susan’s perspective on “experience” came from attending an Adele concert in Las Vegas. She was amazed by how every element of the production enhanced the experience without overpowering it.

BEYOND THE EVENTS:
Outside of her role, Susan enjoys walking around campus, reading and spending time with friends and family by going out to eat. She is an avid listener of audiobooks, including Leadership in Turbulent Times and autobiographies narrated by the author themselves for the best experience.

Today, she considers herself to currently be working her dream job. She is inspired by the daily interactions with the student-athletes and those who support them  and what she can do to be better everyday, never satisfied with the status quo.
