MASTERING GAME PRESENTATION WHILE BEING A PASSIONATE MENTOR…
Megan is originally from the United Kingdom and came to the United States in 2018 to attend the University of Tulsa. While being a Student-Athlete, she got her first experiences working in events as an Operations Intern for the school and during her final year, a Marketing intern for the American Athletic Conference. While working on her Master’s at Coastal Carolina University (CCU), Megan became a Graduate Assistant with the Fan Experience and Marketing department for two years. This is where she was really introduced and fell in love with game presentation and sharpened her show calling skills.
Prior to graduating from CCU, Megan accepted a position with the Bridgeport Islanders, where she is currently the Manager of Game Presentation for the AHL squad. After having completed two seasons already, she is very excited for her upcoming season and to watch the technologies advance in the industry, allowing them to continually evolve the show's entertainment experience. Currently, Megan balances her show calling duties while studying for her second Master’s in the IT Management program.
Megan has a lot of fun programming the show for the Islanders, and it brings her the most joy to get to work with the staff she manages. She loves to mentor and allow her staff, who are mostly college students, to learn through the hands-on experience of the job. She also loves to hear feedback from the Season Ticket Holders who express their enjoyment with the entertainment experience and can see an improvement in the show quality.
BEYOND THE EVENTS:
Megan finds joy outside of work by spending time with her boyfriend and friends in her community. She loves to paddle board, play golf, cook, and do anything that feels “homey”.
Megan is a passionate advocate for international students who want to work and stay in the US. Navigating the immigration process isn’t easy, and Megan has a lot of experience with it. She loves to help other international students/workers with advice and tips to help their journey.
Moving to the US from Hull, UK, in 2018, Megan found a home at the University of Tulsa playing tennis while she received her undergraduate degree in Finance in three years. She continued her Student-Athlete career for two more years at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, SC, while she was getting her Master’s Degree in Sport Management. Being a Student-Athlete shaped Megan into the person and Game Presenter she is today. Tennis taught her to have a strong mind, independence, and self-confidence, which she uses to help her in her career.
