CONSTANTLY LEARNING AND GROWING….
What started as a summer job in high school ultimately determined Colleen’s career path. At the Trenton Thunder, she broke out of her shell and thought, “This is for me.” She took a post-college graduate internship at the Phillies and, during COVID, volunteered to switch departments - which is when she met Sal, head of Operations. When the season and internship ended, Colleen held positions in MLS and at a non-profit, but she missed the pace of MLB. So when a position opened at the Phillies reporting to Sal, she jumped at it.
Colleen is constantly reading, researching, and learning. One of the most valuable lessons she has gained is the importance of making sure a person feels heard. As much as she wants to fix an issue, sometimes all a guest or staff member needs is to be heard - and that’s okay. There is not always a solution, but being empathetic and listening is just as important.
Colleen is always re-evaluating and looking for ways to keep things fresh without losing the core values that make the Phillies who they are. Researching trends, exploring other venues/teams, and asking herself, “Does this fit for Philly?” challenges and energizes her.
BEYOND THE EVENTS:
The simplest moments in life bring Colleen joy. Going for a walk or run with her husband and their dog, grabbing a coffee, or just being with her people - there is no greater feeling.
It was because of Sal that she jumped at the opportunity to return to the Phillies. She still talks to her co-workers from Trenton and has her Phillies crew - all of them feel like family. The friends she has gained along the way bring her the most joy.
A piece of advice Colleen carries with her is that just because you are female in a male-dominated space, you do not need to feel or act small. Remove “I think” and “I feel” from your vocabulary - you know your stuff. Be confident.
